Reluctant Change To Postal Structure (and Prices)
In the last three months, more than 10 packages have gone missing in the post. They simply do not arrive at their destination, and the law requires me, the seller, to ensure delivery - ergo - if your package does not arrive - I have to replace or refund the missing items. In the first place, we are talking about unique, one-off pieces of wood and items of art. In the second place, we are talking about eroding my very modest profit margin, making my losses unsustainable. I am not in this to make a killing and then retire, I am here to build up a long-lasting business which will last you your knife-making lifetime; and long-lasting business relationships which will last me my selling lifetime. Nothing damages these relationships more than a purchase that just does not arrive.

The amount lost in the last three months has caused my business to make a loss for 7 weeks in a row. This is unsustainable, and so I have reluctantly taken the decision that EVERYTHING I now sell has to travel by recorded delivery. This means an additional 75p on every order, so I hope that you will respond and make multiple purchases at the same time and save the money on postage charges. Sorry about this. It is either do this or shut up shop - which I don't want to have to do!

I trust I will have your support in this, and continue to enjoy the unique and very special product and service that I try to offer.............. Jean

Bushcrafting and knifemaking go live on jeanturner.co.uk!
It's nearly there... With the exception of one more section yet to come (and possibly three) - the framework for my webshop is more or less completed. Now what it needs, and fast, is some stock. I am negotiating with Trading Standards to try and find the most acceptable (and safest) way that I can offer my knives and carving tools online, and have created a new jig for my new shorter-bed lathe to be able to turn walking stick shafts again. It's like relearning how to turn, getting used to new equipment. The heat treating process is becoming more refined each time I do it, and soon I hope to offer well-hardened blades makers to have a go at creating their own bush kitchen and utility tools. Turning is now becoming possible once more with the warmer temperatures and the garden is coming to life with snowdrops and crocus sticking their beautifully coloured heads out. The daffies are coming up, but a long way behind those which are already in bloom near to the Lynx Factory in Yeovil.

Always auspicious days in my life - I like the 13th of anything.
It is exceptionally exciting to see your own pages suddenly appear when you type in the address of the new host. Fixing all the glitches and hiccups like menus that don't show and pictures that are missing. And that's just the first part. The database still has to be linked in.

Finally - the arrival of Mk5 is becoming a reality!
It has been a hard slog with many late nights and early morning sessions at the same time as doing everything else.
